Social Security is Making a Change That Will Impact Millions

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is asking people to update their online account information as it adopts a new login portal. Users who created an online my Social Security account before Sept. 18, 2021, need to transition to a Login.gov account to access online services.

According to an article by Fox Business, SSA is now requiring users to have either a Login.gov or ID.me account. As of the date the article was written, 46 million users still need to make the switch.

Making the change is simple. When logging into your my Social Security account you will be given an option to switch to Login.gov. Once selected, a confirmation will appear stating that the account has been successfully linked.

The Seniors Trust is devoted to improving Social Security for all retirees. We want Congress to enact the Social Security Expansion Act which will increase benefits, create a strong and long-lasting trust fund, and guarantee every retired worker receives adequate Social Security benefits and a fair Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA). You can show your support by signing our petition to Congress.
