Here’s proof that you can’t believe stereotypes. An article by The Guardian states that adults over the age of 50 represent nearly a third of all video gamers in the United States. That probably comes as quite a shock to most people, but it’s true. Data from the Entertainment Software Association shows that 28 percent of the nearly 205 million video gamers in this country are 50 or older.

Gaming has become a popular activity among seniors. The ESA found that “nearly half of Americans in their 60s and 70s play some form of PC, mobile or console video game every week, as do 36 percent of people in their 80s.”

The article says playing video games has proven health and wellness benefits. Gaming can help boost memory and attention, improve visual processing, and improve cognitive processing.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the well-being of older Americans. This will be done financially through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. When enacted, it will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
