Reminder – Switch Your Social Security Benefits to Electronic Payment

As of the end of this month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will no longer send paper checks to recipients. According to NorthJersey.com, it will move to electronic-only payments on September 30.
The federal government says it made this change “to modernize payments systems and enhance service delivery.” The SSA says the transition will “improve security, savings and efficiency.”
If you have not already done so, log in to your “my Social Security” account to set up electronic payment using direct deposit to your bank account.
If you do not have a bank account, you can call 877-874-6347 to request a Direct Express Card, which is a prepaid debit card designed specifically for federal benefit payments.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
