The Social Security Administration (SSA) has changed how it schedules appointments and handles claims. According to an article by Yahoo! News, on March 7, SSA started using a national system to set appointments and manage workloads from many offices.

That is different than the previous system, where local Social Security offices scheduled appointments and processed claims independently. The agency says this should spread work more evenly and shorten backlogs, ultimately providing better customer service.

But there’s no need to panic. The article states that the “changes affect how the agency operates internally, not benefit amounts or eligibility rules.”

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
