Can You Still Travel Without a Real ID? We’ve Got the Answer

If you have not already done so, check your wallet to see if you have a Real ID. As of May 7, it’s now required if you are traveling domestically.

According to an article by the Los Angeles Times, Congress approved the Real ID Act following the 9/11 attacks to improve security. A Real ID is now required when flying domestically or entering federal facilities such as military bases or federal courthouses.
