There is something to be said for small-town living. It usually offers a lower cost of living, a lower crime rate, and other features that make it highly livable. A report by CBS News says all this can be quite compelling for retirees.

It revealed the results of a Go Banking Rates ranking of the “44 Best Small Towns to Retire in America.” To come up with their list, researchers evaluated the total number of households and median household income of each town, along with average rental and living costs as well as crime rates and “livability” data, taking into account area amenities, housing opportunities, transportation services, and more.

After analyzing all the data, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, was named the best small town for retirees. Located just outside the state capital of Harrisburg, Camp Hill is one of the most affordable places to live in the country and offers a vibrant lifestyle with locally owned businesses, a seasonal farmers’ market, and an award-winning library. Northville, Michigan, came in second place, followed by Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.

The Seniors Trust is diligently working to improve the financial well-being of America’s retirees through passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, establish a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increase minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
