Here’s How Much You Need to Earn to Get the Maximum Social Security Benefit

The average retiree gets about $2,000 each month from Social Security. According to an article in The Globe and Mail, the biggest monthly benefit check is $5,108. Needless to say, not many people receive that amount or anything close to it.

That’s because to qualify, you need to have earned the maximum Social Security taxable income for at least 35 years. This year, that amount is an annual salary of at least $176,100.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
