These Are the Ten Most Affordable Places to Retire Abroad

Rising health care and housing costs are making it more difficult for retirees who rely primarily on Social Security benefits. This has many people contemplating retiring abroad. The Street shared a list of the ten best places for Americans to retire abroad as compiled by International Living. It looked at qualities such as housing, cost of living, quality of life, health care, climate, and more. For 2025, the best countries for American retirees are Panama, Portugal, Costa Rica, Mexico, France, Spain, Malaysia, Greece, Italy, and Thailand.
The fact is that American retirees should not need to move to another country in order to live a more financially comfortable life. The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual COLA, increased minimum benefits, and will ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
