Why There is No One ‘Right’ Time to Retire
Deciding when to retire is not as simple as one might think. As Kiplinger points out, there is no one “right” time to retire — it’s really a personal decision.
Some people think it should be age 62, which is the earliest age to claim Social Security. Others think it should be when Medicare starts at age 65. While others prefer to wait until they reach full retirement age (FRA), which ranges from 66 to 67 depending on what year they were born. So don’t be pushed into making a decision that would be to your detriment. It is a total myth to think there is a “right” time to retire.
The Seniors Trust is working to improve Social Security through passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. This landmark piece of legislation will increase monthly benefits, establish a fair cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), and secure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program, ensuring it is here for all retirees – today and tomorrow.
