Housing Costs Concern Financially Struggling Seniors
Not all seniors are moving to enjoy the vibrant retirement lifestyle portrayed in movies and on TV. A recent article by The Journal Record reports that one in four seniors are currently considering moving because of rising housing costs and related expenses. An extreme shortage of affordable housing is only making the problem worse. Alarmingly, one in six adults is aged 65 or older and they make up the fastest-growing demographic facing homelessness in America. It’s clear something needs to be done to help struggling seniors.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the lives of America’s retirees through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), and increased minimum benefits. This bill will also ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
