Years ago, retirement meant playing bridge or golf before an early bird dinner, but no more. According to an article by Yahoo! Finance, today’s retirees are seeking action and adventure. It cites an Everyday Wealth in America report that found that 39 percent of respondents said they want an adventurous retirement, with 42 percent saying they intend to stay active.

For that to happen, retirees need to have a solid financial footing. The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act.

That landmark legislation will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program — all without needing to raise the retirement age to 70.
