Why Seniors Are Anxiously Awaiting the 2026 Social Security COLA Announcement

We are just days away from learning what the 2026 Social Security cost-of-living announcement will be. According to MLive in Michigan, analysts predict a 2.7 percent increase in benefits checks. That’s a slight bump — just 0.2 percent — from this year’s 2.5 percent COLA.
Sadly, that is not enough to alleviate concern for the 39 percent of seniors who rely on Social Security for all their retirement income. They will still struggle to make ends meet.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual COLA, increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
