Living off of Social Security benefits can be difficult enough, but it becomes even more challenging during the months in which up to 35 days can pass between benefit payments. Two members of Congress want to change that by letting Social Security recipients pick which day of the month they would like to receive their payments. The Social Security Benefit Payments Choice Act of 2021, introduced by Representatives Jack Bergman (R-MI) and Carol Miller (R-WV), puts the power in your hands.

According to a report by WLUC-TV6, the Social Security Administration says 28 million Americans could benefit by the change proposed in this bill. The sponsors believe their bill will alleviate the financial uncertainty and hardships facing too many seniors.

The Social Security Expansion Act is another bill that would greatly benefit recipients. It calls for increasing monthly benefits, establishing a fairer cost-of-living adjustment, and securing the long-term solvency of America’s Social Security program. The Seniors Trust is committed to ensuring passage of this key piece of legislation. It received unanimous support of the people in our recent survey, with 100% agreeing that Congress should pass the Social Security Expansion Act which expands benefits and protects the financial security of retired Americans.
