Outliving your retirement savings is a fear facing millions of older Americans. And with Social Security facing a funding shortfall — and predictions of its trust fund reaching a deficit in less than 10 years — that fear could become a reality. But there is hope, depending upon where you live. An article by 24/7 Wall Street posted on AOL ranked the states to see where your retirement dollars will go the furthest.

Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey and the U.S. Census Community Survey, it found that “if you really want to live a financially comfortable life during your golden years” you should move to West Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Alabama, Iowa, Kansas, or Ohio.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and will ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
