Millions of older Americans rely on their monthly Social Security benefit checks for a large part of their retirement income. According to an article by Newsweek, it’s crucial that retirees make sure their personal information is accurate, or they could lose their monthly benefits.

Failing to report any life changes — such as moving, getting married or divorced, or not accurately reporting your income — can lead to issues receiving your monthly benefits or even facing financial penalties. To update personal information, recipients can log into their my Social Security account on the Social Security Administration website.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and will ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
