The 2026 Social Security COLA Could Be Inching Up

Some good news could be coming to America’s seniors. According to a report by CBS News, early indications are that Social Security beneficiaries could see a 2.7 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) next year. That’s slightly more than the 2.5 percent boost U.S. retirees received this year.
The Social Security Administration can make an annual cost-of-living adjustment to help ensure that retirement benefits keep pace with inflation. The 2026 COLA, if there is one, will be announced in October.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual COLA, increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
