See Why More Retirees May Be Moving to the Midwest
Forget about Florida. Ohio is quickly becoming America’s retirement destination. U.S. News & World Report named three Ohio cities amongst its top ten picks for the Best Places to Retire ranking. Youngstown took the top spot, with the Huntington/Ashland tri-state area (Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia) at No. 5, and Toledo at No. 9.
Travel & Leisure magazine agrees, calling Youngstown a cultural destination with affordable housing, parks, and excellent healthcare facilities making it an ideal place for people wanting to retire on a budget. This city that was once at the heart of America’s steel industry has invigorated itself with its own opera company, an outstanding metro parks system, and top-notch hospitals.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), and increased minimum benefits.
