Social Security retirement benefit recipients received a 2.5 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2025. That equates to an extra $49 per month on average. So, how much does the typical retiree now receive?

According to Kiplinger Personal Finance, the average Social Security check is now $1,976 for individuals and $3,089 for married couples (both receiving benefits). The maximum Social Security check for 2025 increased by $235 to $5,108 per month for the highest wage earners.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual COLA, increased minimum benefits, and will ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
