Why Retirees Are Moving to the Midwest
Years ago, when you stopped working, you packed up and moved to Florida. It was almost like a rite of passage. Times have changed. Many retirees are now moving to the Midwest. The Street looked into the best and worst states for retirement and discovered that affordability had many seniors choosing to spend their golden years in Ohio, Michigan or Missouri. For those who prefer warmer weather, Florida and Georgia ranked high. On the other end of the spectrum, Alaska, Maine, California, New Mexico and Montana, were deemed the worst states for retirement largely due to the high cost of living.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) and increased minimum benefits.
