Just in time to help pay off some of your holiday expenses, retirees will receive a bigger Social Security benefit check. But just how much more will it be?

According to CNET.com, starting in January Social Security recipients will receive a 3.2 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in their monthly benefit check. For the average retiree, that will mean an additional $58 each month, adding up to an extra $1,885 in 2024. The first Social Security retirement benefit checks will go out on January 10t, with the payment schedule determined by your birth date.

The Seniors Trust is working to protect and expand Social Security benefits for American seniors. Our mission is to pass the Social Security Expansion Act, which will secure the long-term solvency of Social Security. It’s crucial that we make sure Social Security is there for today’s seniors and tomorrow’s retirees. You can show your support by signing The Seniors Trust petition calling on Congress to enact this vital piece of legislation.
