How Two Boys Are Protecting Their Grandmas – and Other Seniors – From Scams
Two brothers in San Diego wanted to help their grandmothers and now are helping seniors all over the world stay safe from scams.
According to a report by KNSD NBC 7 in San Diego, the brothers founded StayCyberSafe about three years ago after noticing they were often asked to help their own grandmothers navigate scam texts, emails, and phone calls. Now with a network of 20 chapters worldwide, StayCyberSafe holds workshops designed to help seniors recognize scams and protect their personal and financial information.
This is important because recent crime statistics show that adults over age 50 lost $4.8 billion to cybercrime.
The Seniors Trust is committed to helping protect the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
