When you think of retirement hotbeds, you probably don’t think of Pennsylvania. But, according to an article by Reader’s Digest, the Keystone State is home to three of the top five cities for retirees. Not surprisingly, Florida took the remaining top spots.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was named the best city for retirees after evaluating cities on the following six indexes:  happiness, housing affordability, health care quality, retiree taxes, desirability, and job market. It was chosen because it offers excellent health care (with three Penn Medicine hospitals nearby), affordability, central location (easily drivable to New York City, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC), and loads of fun things to go.

Rounding out the top five list are Harrisburg (#2) and York (#5) in Pennsylvania and Pensacola (#3) and Tampa (#4) in Florida.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and this bill will ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
