Florida Still Ranks Among the Best Places to Retire

It seems seniors are still seeking out the Sunshine State for retirement. U.S. News & World Report has released its 250 Best Places to Retire in the U.S. 2026 list and three Florida cities rank among the top ten. More than 50 cities in Florida made the list.
To come up with the list, U.S. News evaluated more than 850 top cities across the country. The criteria it used analyzed quality of life, overall value, tax rates, senior population/migration trends, and health care quality.
In case you were wondering, Midland, Michigan, was named the best place to retire. It was followed by Weirton, West Virginia. Homosassa Springs, Florida, The Woodlands, Texas, Spring, Texas, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Spring Hill, Florida, Altoona, Pennsylvania, Palm Coast, Florida, and Lynchburg, Virginia, round out the top ten.
The Seniors Trust is looking out for the financial well-being of older Americans. We believe Congress needs to enact the Social Security Expansion Act. This landmark piece of legislation will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
