It may soon be time to roll up your sleeve for another Covid booster shot. According to CNBC, both Pfizer and Moderna have developed new booster shots designed to protect against the highly contagious omicron variants.

The boosters first need to be approved by the FDA and CDC, but experts believe the first shots could be available in early- to mid-September. As with previous Covid vaccines, the booster shots will most likely first be available to those most at risk, such as the elderly and immunocompromised.

As CNBC reports, “Federal health officials believe the shots will provide the best level of protection against the highly transmissible BA.5 subvariant to date, especially in the fall and winter when a large wave of Covid infections is projected to hit the U.S.”
