Just because you have retired, doesn’t mean you can’t work. Many retirees are finding fulfilling part-time jobs in areas that interest them. Finance Buzz found there are plenty of opportunities out there for older Americans to find pleasure while earning extra income. Here are five part-time positions you might want to consider:

  1. Substitute Teacher – If you like spending time with children, this could be the perfect part-time job for you. Check with your local school system to see what certifications they require.
  2. Virtual Assistant – This remote (work-from-home) job is an excellent choice for someone with good organizational and communication skills.
  3. School Bus Driver – If you have a good driving record, being a bus driver could be a good option for you. You will need a CDL license.
  4. Customer Service Representative – If you enjoy speaking to other people and problem solving this would be the perfect part-time job for you. Businesses seek people who can provide customer service either by phone or email.
  5. Library Assistant – If you like to read or help others learn about new technology, maybe look into working part-time at your local public library or a nearby school or university.

While none of these jobs are high paying, they all provide an opportunity for seniors to socialize, gain personal and professional satisfaction, and earn a little supplemental income because Social Security benefits alone are not enough nowadays.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, establish a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increase minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
