A happy retirement requires more than just money. According to an article by Moneywise, financial security is just one of several “must-have” assets you need to acquire before retiring. It’s also important that you plan how to:

  1. Stay Healthy — A healthy diet and exercise program are critical, especially as you age.
  2. Combat Loneliness — Social isolation and loneliness can lead to physical and mental health issues, even premature death.   
  3. Find Your Purpose — If you are no longer spending your day working, volunteering or participating in activities can provide purpose in your life. This could help you live longer and prevent some of the diseases related to aging.

It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and this bill will ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
