A sense of urgency is spreading through the halls of the U.S. Senate. Government projections show that in less than 10 years the Social Security trust fund won’t be able to pay recipients their full benefits. But a report by News10 in Albany, New York, says there already is proposed legislation that offers a solution — if it can get enough support.

Senators Bernie Sanders and Kirsten Gillibrand have co-sponsored a bill that could fully fund Social Security for the next 75 years. The Social Security Expansion Act would help secure solvency by making any income above $250,000 subject to the Social Security tax. Sen. Gillibrand says it’s time millionaires pay their fair share.

The Seniors Trust is in total agreement. We have been working to help pass the Social Security Expansion Act to ensure all retired Americans receive the full benefits they were promised — and that they worked so hard to help fund. Please join our effort by signing our petition to Congress.
