There’s been a lot of talk about the demise of Social Security as we know it. Its Trust Fund is steadily being depleted and, if Congress does not act soon, the agency may not be able to pay out full benefits in as little as 10 years.

To help alleviate this concern, the Social Security Administration (SSA) dedicated an episode of its SSA Talks podcast to the subject. In the 13-minute episode “Will Social Security Be There When I Retire?”, Chief Actuary Steve Goss sheds light on the Social Security Trust Funds and how they relate to your future benefits. The podcast, which makes for interesting listening, is accompanied by a fact sheet and transcript.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will ensure solvency for decades to come and give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), and increased minimum benefits.
