How the Social Security Administration’s Website Upgrade Still Falls Short

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has been working to improve customer service. One of its improvements involved upgrading its website, particularly the my Social Security page. Users can now easily update their phone number, address, and bank account online.  According to a Forbes contributor, the best improvement is that beneficiaries can now access their full covered earning histories. This is important information for those people trying to decide when to start claiming Social Security as well as beneficiaries who are thinking about going back to work.

But the problem is that Social Security doesn’t offer an adequate benefits calculator, so it’s hard to assess how any changes you make could impact your income and taxes!

Of course, retirees wouldn’t even need to think about going back to work if Congress would enact the Social Security Expansion Act. It would provide retirees with a $200 monthly benefits boost, along with establishing a fairer cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) and shoring up the long-term solvency of Social Security. The Seniors Trust is a strong supporter of this bill.
