Why The Land Down Under Appeals to American Retirees

American retirees may opt to live their “golden years” on the Gold Coast. According to an article by Travel & Leisure, a retirement destination attractiveness report places Australia as the top destination for Americans wanting to retire overseas. This ranking is based on factors such as the cost of living, property ownership, lifestyle, health care, visa access, and more.
The report noted that the English-speaking destination offers retirees “exceptional quality of life, safety, and health care, with some cost and distance trade-offs.”
One of the reasons the Land Down Under appeals to Americans is that it offers something for everyone. Australia is renowned for its sunshine and subtropical climate, particularly on Queensland’s Gold Coast, as well as its wineries and oyster farms in Tasmania, and its incredible cultural offerings in Sydney.
Rounding out the top five retirement destinations were Portugal, New Zealand, Singapore, and Spain.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
