Many retirees are contemplating going back to work these days. According to Bankrate.com, this trend is called “unretirement” and it is becoming increasingly more popular among older Americans seeking to earn more money after market volatility and inflation impacted their financial outlook.

A recent study by a leading payroll company found that one in six retirees is considering a return to work and more than half of them want remote positions. That’s not surprising. Flexibility is something people want after coming out of retirement. This also explains why so many Baby Boomers — about 24 percent — have some sort of side hustle to earn extra income.

The fact is retirees would not have to go back to work if Social Security provided a livable amount. The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), and increased minimum benefits.
