Here’s How Much Your Social Security Benefit Check Could be in 15 Years
The average Social Security benefit check is a little over $1,900 per month. Yahoo! Finance asked experts to peer into their crystal ball and predict how much recipients will receive in 15 years. The thought is that the average benefit would be around $2,663, assuming an inflation rate of 2.25% percent. However, when you factor in that the historical cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) over the past 20 years was 2.6 percent, “the average benefit amount in 15 years will be closer to $2,802.”
But while that sounds like a sizable increase, it would still feel like the $1,907 recipients receive today. It’s clear something needs to be done to boost benefits and make sure seniors no longer struggle financially.
The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual COLA, increased minimum benefits, and will ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
