Not all retirees are looking for a slower pace in life; some crave the energy and excitement of a big city. Investopedia analyzed the best places to spend retirement and came up with a list of the six best big cities for retirees.
They are Chicago, Illinois; Houston, Texas; Miami, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Looking at various metrics, the researchers determined that retiring in a big city provides options for free or low-cost entertainment, large airports to save money on travel, and plentiful healthcare access.
Additionally, big cities are often highly walkable and have robust public transit systems, allowing retirees to save money on transportation and reduce the need to drive while aging in place.
