Florida is continually ranked as the best state for retirees. Almost 46,000 seniors moved to the Sunshine State last year alone. So, it should come as no surprise that eight Florida communities made Niche.com’s annual ranking of the best places to retire in America. They are evaluated based on weather, housing costs, crime rates, and access to health care and entertainment.

According to an article by Travel & Leisure, the tiny town of Rio, just outside of Stuart, took the number one spot. Sandwiched between the St. Lucie River and Indian River Lagoon, residents here “enjoy parks, waterfront paths, and easy access to fishing, kayaking, and birdwatching.”

Seven other Florida communities made the list’s top 10. They are Highland Beach, Naples Park, Pelican Bay, Redington Bay, Hypoluxo, Hillsboro Beach, and Bay Pines.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans by passing the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate increase of about $200 a month in benefits, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
