This is the Most Popular Age for Claiming Social Security

You can claim Social Security as early as age 62, but to receive the maximum benefits you will want to wait until age 70. You’d think most people would want to delay their claim to receive the largest benefit checks, but that’s not the case.
According to a report by USA Today, 62 is the most popular age for taking Social Security. Twenty-seven percent of Americans started collecting Social Security at that age. Only 10.2 percent waited until they turned 70. Some of the reasons cited for claiming earlier are a lack of savings and fears that Social Security will run out of money.
The Seniors Trust is devoted to improving Social Security for all retirees. We want Congress to enact the Social Security Expansion Act which will increase benefits, create a strong and long-lasting trust fund, and guarantee every retired worker receives adequate Social Security benefits and a fair Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).
