Seniors Show We’re All a Kid at Heart

Even Mother Nature could not put a damper on the spirits of seniors living in a Michigan retirement community. With a snowstorm predicted, staff at StoryPoint Senior Living planned to take residents outside for a fun-filled afternoon of activities you’re more likely to see on a school playground than at a senior center.

But when the snow didn’t come as predicted, WXYZ reported that the staff took measures into their own hands to create an indoor winter wonderland experience for residents complete with indoor tubing. Video went viral of the seniors with smiles plastered on their faces as workers spun them around. A spokesperson said they were happy to help redefine people’s perception of what life is like living in a retirement community.

The Seniors Trust wants all seniors to have the opportunity to experience a happy retirement. But to do that you can’t be struggling financially. That’s why lawmakers need to pass the Social Security Expansion Act. It would provide bigger monthly benefits, establish a fairer cost-of-living adjustment, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
