Robert Reich explains the need for Social Security expansion in just three minutes

Robert B. Reich is a Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley, a Senior Fellow at the Blum Center for Developing Economies, and author of fourteen books. For his work serving as Secretary of Labor under the Clinton administration, Time Magazine dubbed him one of the ten most effective cabinet secretaries of the twentieth century — not too shabby!
In this clip, Reich takes just three short minutes to explain the retirement security crisis facing America’s seniors — and why calls for benefit reductions, like raising the retirement age, are not only unnecessary, but counterintuitive.
We CAN repair the long-term solvency of our Trust Fund AND expand Social Security benefits without drastic cuts. More to the point, with so many of our seniors finding it harder than ever to make ends meet on Social Security alone, we HAVE TO.
Don’t listen to calls for cuts — they are NOT the only way. If you have three minutes to spare, let Robert Reich break it down for you (complete with a marker and large pad — turns out, he’s also one heck of an artist, too!)
