The Changing Face of College Seniors
Traditionally, when you think of a college senior you probably picture a young adult. But, with more senior living centers opening on or near college campuses, that may be changing. As The Columbian reports, there is a nationwide movement of universities partnering with senior living centers to promote lifelong learning opportunities.
It’s been proven that staying intellectually engaged and developing new skills can improve the quality of life of seniors and help ward off Alzheimer’s disease. But it seems younger co-eds also benefit from interacting with older adults on campus through positive intergenerational relationships.
The Seniors Trust is committed to helping improve the lives of retirees. We are strong supporters of the Social Security Expansion Act, which will increase monthly benefits, create a strong and long-lasting Trust Fund, and guarantee that every retired worker receives adequate Social Security benefits and a fair Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).
