Early predictions are that retirees could see a 3.8 percent Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in 2027. An article by Yahoo! Finance says retirees could see an additional $79 per month on average. But those in some states could see even bigger benefit checks. That’s largely because they have higher-than-average incomes.

The article says residents in Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Utah could see the biggest boosts.

The actual COLA increase won’t be revealed until October, but early indications are that retirees will see a sizeable increase because of high inflation.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans by passing the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate increase of about $200 a month in benefits, a fair annual COLA, increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
