It’s likely been more than six months since you got your last Covid-19 booster shot. Last September, public health officials started recommending people get the bivalent Covid-19 vaccine to protect against the omicron variant. According to an article by Yahoo! News, many people are now wondering if they need to get another booster shot.

Last month, the UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation advised that a spring booster dose was recommended for adults aged 75 years and over, nursing home residents, and anyone aged five and older who is immunosuppressed.

Here in the U.S., the FDA plans to authorize an additional dose for seniors and immunocompromised people in the coming weeks, ahead of the introduction of a newly formulated booster later in the year, reports The New York Times. The article pointed out that the government plans to introduce a newly reformulated booster late this summer or in the early fall — a schedule that would align with the annual flu vaccine.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the lives of seniors by working to improve Social Security. It wants to see Congress pass the Social Security Expansion Act. This landmark piece of legislation will provide bigger monthly Social Security benefits, establish a more realistic cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for seniors, and guarantee the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
