Discover Why So Many Seniors Are Being Forced to ‘Unretire’

As the cost-of-living continues to climb, an increasing number of retirees are reentering the workforce. According to an article by USA Today, two out of five older Americans say they are either looking for a job or are back at work in order to afford their everyday living expenses.
In the past, seniors have chosen to work to stay connected and have a sense of purpose. But today’s financial pressures are leading to an increase in so-called “unretirees”. A report by T. Rowe Price estimates that “20 percent of retirees hold down part- or full-time jobs, with an additional 7 percent seeking employment.”
Retirees should not need to return to work during their golden years. The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
