More than 66.5 million Americans receive checks from Social Security each month. How much you receive depends on several factors, namely how much money you earned while you were working. If you’ve always wondered how your check stacks up against the average American, you might want to watch this short video released by The Motley Fool.

Not only does it answer that question (it’s $1786 per month), but it does a great job of explaining the various types of benefits and how to know what you are entitled to receive. And all in less than five minutes.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), and increased minimum benefits.
