In a new ranking of the best states to retire Delaware clinched the top spot, moving up one position from the previous year. According to an article by CBS News, the tiny state along the East Coast received high marks for affordability, healthcare, and overall well-being on Bankrate’s ranking of the best states to retire in 2024. Rounding out Bankrate’s top five states for retirement were West Virginia (No. 2), Georgia, South Carolina, and Missouri.
In case you were wondering, the lowest-ranking states for retirement were New York, Washington, California, and Alaska, which came in last place, largely because of its high cost of living.
