There’s a reason there are so many jokes about retirees in Florida. For years, the Sunshine State was “the place” to live during your golden years. But that may be changing.

According to an article by Parade, real estate experts say, “Florida is losing its luster with retirees.” It seems the high cost of living, hurricanes, and expensive homeowners insurance premiums make Florida less ideal for retirees.

Realtors say the heat and humidity are also to blame. Some retirees find it difficult to acclimate to the tropical climate, particularly the summer months with high humidity and a tendency for daily afternoon rain and thunderstorms.

The Seniors Trust is committed to helping older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
