Over One-Quarter of Americans Have No Retirement Savings
A recent survey by GOBankingRates is raising a huge red flag about America’s financial future. It found that 28 percent of adults have nothing saved for retirement. Even more alarming, almost 30 percent of respondents don’t think they will ever be able to retire and will need to keep working long past traditional retirement ages.
This is a cause for concern and one more reason why we need to secure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program — which millions of older Americans depend upon.
The Seniors Trust is devoted to improving Social Security for all retirees. We want Congress to enact the Social Security Expansion Act which will increase monthly benefits, create a strong and long-lasting trust fund, and guarantee every retired worker receives adequate Social Security benefits and a fair Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).
