U.S. News & World Report has released its list of the 25 Best Places to Retire in 2024 and the top five spots are all in Pennsylvania. In fact, eight of the top 25 places are in the Keystone State — compared to only six in Florida! For generations, retirees would flock to the Sunshine State or other sunny destinations such as Arizona and southern California.

After analyzing a variety of data including taxes, desirability, availability of quality health care, affordability, happiness, the weather, and more for the 150 largest metropolitan areas in the country, the magazine’s real estate reporters ranked Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, as the best city for retirees. It earned the No. 1 spot because of the quality of healthcare for seniors and the happiness of its residents, as well as being tax-friendly.

Rounding out the top five were Reading, Lancaster, Scranton, and Allentown.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of America’s retirees through the passage of The Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), and increased minimum benefits. This bill will ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
