Why Your Next Restaurant Server Could Be a Senior

It seems restaurants are seeking out seniors these days. According to Modern Restaurant Management, part of the reason is that seniors make great role models. They show up to work on time, do their job, and don’t play on their phone, and know how to interact well with guests.

Additionally, older workers tend to have more flexible schedules and are willing — and often prefer — to work early shifts. That’s important for restaurant managers who often struggle to find employees willing to work the breakfast shift or only lunch service.

For seniors, they get a sense of pride and satisfaction in doing a job and can put some extra money in their pockets. That’s important for anyone struggling to get by on Social Security retirement income alone.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the financial well-being of older Americans through the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act. It will give retirees an immediate benefits increase of about $200 a month, a fair annual cost-of-living adjustment (COLA), increased minimum benefits, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
