After retiring from military service, two Army veterans bought land outside Tombstone, Arizona. Noticing all of the neighboring vineyards, the couple decided to try winemaking and planted some grape vines on their 36-acre plot. According to an article in Tucson.com, their first try at winemaking was a disaster and they ended up pouring out the entire batch.

But that didn’t deter them. Fortunately, the next year’s vintage was much better. So much so that all 13 cases sold out in a week.

Two years later, High Lonesome Vineyard won two awards at the AZcentral Grand Wine Awards: a Best in Class and a Judge’s Choice award. The awards and accolades have been piling up ever since, with two more AZcentral contest medals and three Beverage Testing Institute awards the following year. Building on that success, the couple plans to plant another 1,000 vines this year.

Cheers to them for living their best retirement life!

The Seniors Trust wants all seniors to have the opportunity to experience a happy retirement. But to do that you can’t be struggling financially. That’s why lawmakers need to pass the Social Security Expansion Act. It would provide bigger monthly benefits, establish a fairer cost-of-living adjustment, and ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security program. To show your support, please sign our petition calling on Congress to enact this landmark piece of legislation.
