It’s no secret that Social Security can be confusing. In fact, an article in Forbes points out that the Social Security handbook contains almost 3,000 rules. That alone explains why so many people are left to wonder, “What is Social Security?”

The Seniors Trust did some digging and found this video from the education experts at Khan Academy. It breaks down the basics of America’s Social Security system into simple terms. In just a few minutes, this online lesson explains our Social Security program, why it was started, how it works, and what the future holds.
