The COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be effective. In fact, according to the Associated Press almost all of the covid hospitalizations and deaths in this country are now among the unvaccinated. Despite these impressive statistics, 13% of adults say they will “definitely not” get a Covid-19 vaccine. And the main reason they are hesitant is because of how quickly the vaccines came about.

The co-founder of Moderna told CNBC Make It that’s understandable, but he assures everyone that the vaccines are totally safe because the technology behind them has been a long time coming. Both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine were created using mRNA technology. This has been in development for over 15 years. It had been under investigation for a variety of treatments including cancer therapies. Scientists were able to quickly develop the Covid-19 vaccines because they used the same bioplatforms already in development. Scientists say this could be the tip of the iceberg, with this new technology now speeding up the development of new vaccines and cutting-edge medical treatments.

The Seniors Trust is committed to improving the lives of seniors by working to improve Social Security as well as highlighting important information about COVID-19 vaccines.

This landmark piece of legislation will provide bigger monthly Social Security benefits (about $65 a month), establish a more realistic cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for seniors, and guarantee the long-term solvency of the Social Security program.
